Club History

Lexington Country Club opened its Gordon Lewis-designed par 72 championship golf course and 14,000 square foot clubhouse facilities in January of 1996. Lexington was developed by Worthington Communities, Inc., the builder/developer of Worthington Country Club in Bonita Springs, Vanderbilt Country Club in Naples and their newest, Renaissance in Fort Myers.

The site for Lexington was purchased in September of 1994 and the ground breaking ceremony took place in March of 1995. Construction soon began on the lakes, golf course and clubhouse. Construction of the single-family Villas and Estate Homes began in June, and the Waterford and Wedgewood neighborhoods were begun shortly after.

The ground breaking for the Island Club was in February of 1996 and construction of Sommerset Villas and Southmont Cove began that spring. The grand opening of the Island Club Activity Center was in January 1997. Later that year, Sutton Walk, bordering a wildlife preserve, came into being.

Lexington is committed to offering the finest living experience available in the Lee County area.
